According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.babycenter.com\/baby-names\/most-popular\/names-going-extinct-2026_41003690\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BabyCenter\u2019s latest analysis<\/a> of the names parents are choosing (and ditching), there are 100 baby names at risk of \u201cgoing extinct\u201d in 2026\u2014meaning they\u2019ve fallen dramatically in popularity and could soon disappear from the naming landscape altogether.<\/p>\n<p>By examining year-over-year changes among the top 1,000 baby names, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mothermag.com\/baby-name-trends-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BabyCenter<\/a> identified which once-popular picks saw the steepest declines between 2024 and 2025\u2014offering a clear snapshot of the styles and sounds parents are moving away from right now.<\/p>\n<p>The results? <a href=\"https:\/\/www.babycenter.com\/baby-names\/most-popular\/names-going-extinct-2026_41003690\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BabyCenter<\/a> says <strong>unique spellings<\/strong> <strong>are officially uncool<\/strong>, with nontraditional versions of familiar favorites like Charleigh, Alivia, Maddison, Emmitt, and Mohamad slipping fast. <strong>Place-inspired names<\/strong> are also losing momentum, with London, Malaysia, and Dallas down for girls and Boston dropping for boys.<\/p>\n<p>The shift continues with <strong>boy names ending in \u201c-y\u201d<\/strong>, including Huxley, Grady, Rey, Corey, and Harry, all sliding down the rankings. And once-popular <strong>names that start with D and K<\/strong> are being left behind too\u2014from Danielle and Dylan to Dominic, Dev, Kylian, and Karim.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, baby name trends are famously cyclical.
